The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources requires that dams in Wisconsin be fully inspected by a licensed engineering firm every ten (10) years. Our Lawrence Lake Dam is due for its next formal inspection by 2027.
The District Board will be consulting with several engineering firms beginning in 2026 to obtain bids for the formal inspection. The cost for the engineering inspection is estimated to be in the range of $10,000 to $15,000 (possibly more). Any repairs needed may be a separate expense.

The good news is that the District Board has budgeted for this expense over the past several years. These funds are already available through our Dam Maintenance Account. The only action needed by the District Membership will be to approve the expenditure in 2026 to pay for the engineering inspection and any repairs (if necessary).
